DIY Weldless Thermometer for $0.89

Here's the idea. Instead of buying a $26 weldless thermometer from the homebrew store, I'm gonna make one myself.
Here's what I used:
  • 1/2 to 3/4inch rubber stopper ($0.89)
  • My wife's turkey thermometer (free)
  • aAnd a couple of tack nails (had 'em)
I asked around and everyone told me it wasn't going to work. I did it anyways :)

    That thermometer will be 25 dollars. 15 dollars! I'm not going to spend 5 dollars!

    That's great - any pics of it boiling, or any pics of the digital setup? My guess is that the rubber stopper will allow much more true temp readings....

    I decided not to use the digital. I have the termometers on the HLT and MLT, so no boil. I think you're right on the true temp readings :)
